Into the Woods

With two dogs full of energy we headed out into the woods for an evening stroll. They ran circles around trees, chasing the scents of little squirrels long gone.

Apollo and Aura aren't particularly quiet - when in full sprint chasing one another it sounds like galloping hooves.

In the eerie dusk light, little fireflies hovered around us...

We have a few favorite spots where we can let the dogs off the lead to run free and happy, Apollo always has a massive grin when he's broken into a panting sweat...

One key command that they were both taught at an early age was to "look" and give eye contact. When they're fixated on a treat or ball, by breaking the fixation and getting them to look, they really seem to calm down and become less obsessed and just enjoy the experience.

They continue following their noses, the sun dips a little lower...

I'm still completely enamored with the wedding rings our beautiful friends created. I paired them up with my vintage Junghans Helena rolled gold watch which you may have seen before in this post.

We don't have long before the sun tucks itself below the horizon, so we call the dogs and wonder back along the well trodden path...

...through the spindly trees with their long trunks...

And out of the woods just in time to head home for a big cup of camomile before an episode or two of a favorite series.
