Oh, hey Puppy...

So, things have been a little overwhelming recently. At the heart of all the mayhem has been this little guy... But it's pretty sweet mayhem...

Last month we met a fantastic couple not that far away, as they opened the door to their home a beautiful Vizsla met us. Her tail wagging with excitement she let us into the pen where her 8 little pups were curled up into a large mush of puppy Vizsla.

It was this guy we were there to meet... but he was a whole lot smaller all those weeks ago...

This was our first meeting...

He's the one in the middle - completely asleep and utterly content!

The pups shuffled around, nibbled on my socks and chewed their siblings ears.

Tired, they all piled into their crate... to sleep... again...

After our first meeting I was a little worried that he was too docile...

Like worried parents we got home, opened a bottle of Pinot Noir... we paced around weighing up options. Vizsla's were our pet of choice because of their relentless energy - we were after a running buddy or at least a mans best friend who was happy walking 20miles in the hills on a sunday.

We paced, I sipped.

To put our minds at ease we called the wonderful breeders to arrange another visit. Then, we were met by this...

Okay, it seemed that we were visiting too late. The breeders texted over some photos of him earlier in the day in full play. His lethargy wasn't a huge concern after the second meeting - we were in free fall about to land in a reservoir of puppy love.

Before he was old enough to leave his mother, we had a lot of puppy proofing to do. At eight weeks old we picked him up, cuddled his siblings and mother, placed him in his travel bag and we left.

The first day, he did alot of this...

He pottered around the house, finding himself in his new home.

Vizsla's are very soppy and love engaging in everything that their family are up to. If we were sat, he'd want to sit, if we were cleaning, he'd want to pick up things and drag them around.

For me, I live cold - ideally with the windows fully open and a cool breeze. We noticed he would shiver, so CiCi his aunt sourced a little merio wool vest for him - it's like a crop top on him now!

In the loft we have a little terrace which we renovated before his arrival to include a patch of faux grass.

But he prefers visits to family where he gets the real deal!

He's got poses down to a tee - his favourite place to be is in our arms - especially AJ's

This week he's weighing in at around 8kg, he sleeps for around 18-20hrs a day and eats double his RDA, he loves sitting and observing what we're up to and will do anything for almond butter. He's had a few weeks of training and is fantastically responsive, he's pretty much entirely house trained and has adapted well to our nomadic existence. A day after having him, we did a 3hr car journey, spent a few days decorating and revamping a property - most of the time, he slept, the rest of the time, he pottered around happily.

He seems to have got his colouring in general from his papa ^

Now though, at 12 weeks, his eyes have changed from those sparkly blue eyes to a golden brown.

He's done pretty well and we are itching to get him out once his final jabs are complete!
