Bridport Hat Festival // Brunch at the Bull

After Venner Bar escapades the night before, we shook into life just before midday for a lazy brunch.

Family from Wiltshire were making their way down and checking into the Bull Hotel. So we shuffled our way through Bridport as hat enthusiasts descended for the town's annual Hat Festival.

It was super busy when we arrived, but luckily breakfasts were nearing an end and the lovely staff found a perfect spot for us to gather ourselves.

Early starts and late Prosecco heads left us needing coffee, the round was easy - 7 strong, black, filters.

The world looked better, brighter, and we all shuffled into life.

Wrapped up in catchups, family gossip, holiday updates, we started on our breakfasts - Cici went for scrambled eggs and bacon... I chose pancakes of course.

They didn't hang around for long - we were famished!

We sat chatting over the days programme - my aunt and uncle, founders of the festival and hatters had a busy schedule for the day.

As the coffee kicked in, we popped upstairs to the Bull Hotel's Ball Room to listen to the end of their talk on hats.

Monica wore a vintage silk piece which she picked up at the auction earlier in the week.

Intricately made, she explained the details and the way in which it is structured. It looked fantastic on her.

As the talk ended, we checked our watches. Apparently the Venner Bar had set up a popup Gin Bar outside... and there was something quite tempting about coaxing the family out onto the street for a lunchtime drink...
