An Anatomy of Time
Inside the mechanism of a timepiece there are lots of little cogs which keep time. They're held in place with bearings with spindles which allow for time to be captured and resonated in barely audible ticks.
As the world become revolutionised by depths of science, accuracy became ever more a pressing factor. In the early years of the eighteenth century precious jewels were used as a means of making sure that no friction occurs as the cogs move. The thought of keeping jewels hidden in the mechanisms is so beautiful. Little hidden gems allow us to live our lives one tick at a time.
