Bridport Hat Festival // Milliners & Hatters Open Competition

When Monica told me that she was nipping home to change from her vintage brunch piece into "a boat" I was... not entirely surprised.

^ ^ ^ ^

Seeing her afternoon hat, I loved it! A little sailing boat was perfectly apt! The hats and headwear pieces worn by the audience were all pretty spectacular, and a quick peep at pieces ready to judging, I knew this was going to be a pretty tough

The attendees and panel of judges took to their seats.

... and I swapped my lenses...

Then came the pieces... There were so many perfect entries, and these are a few of my favourites worn by Cici and Natalie Amor...

This floral inspired piece was so very elegant...

While this burst of colour and intercity really caught my eye...

I loved the fun elements of this Mad Hatter type piece!

And the easy to wear regal nature of this piece...

This hat was everything fun about morning strolls through the English Countryside...

While this was just luscious and extravagant...

And then this was just so very plush...

And then I found this piece fun and hilarious!

Natalie wore this one beautifully - it felt very Remembrance-Sunday-Regal

As did this one...

Then... oh my gosh, this was beautifully made and oh so detailed...

Then came the winning piece...

Tamsyn Brocks had designed and created this beautiful piece which was awarded first prize by the judges and panel.

Personally, I was so pleased to see her win, she is an excellent Milliner and seeing her at the event over the years I feel that her style has truly evolved and becomes ever more wonderful each year.

By far, this is one of my favourite events of the weekend. To see craftsmen who can produce such detailed and skilled pieces really resonates the magnitude of the event.

All the best - and I hope to see you again next year!

If any of these pieces above are yours let me know in the comments!  You crafty Milliners, until next year...
