Spring Beauty Routine
The days are lengthening, drawing us out of hibernation.
If you're anything like me, waking from winter months of downtime and survival is like crawling out of a cave and shaking into life.
My skin is definitely crying for a wake up.
Months spent outdoors in the biting cold out with Apollo and Aura then indoors in offices where the heating has blasted out dry warm bacteria ridden air has left my skin in turmoil.
Travelling in particular is tough on the skin, but more importantly it impacts via the gut. Having a great nourishing diet is by far the best way to feel great and glow from the inside out. After the holiday binges and travel, I've been apologising to my gut with turmeric teas, probiotics and big green bowls of fruit and veg.
Aswell as diet, I've been nourishing and cleansing my skin with a few favourites. First off, La Roche-Posay's Effaclar range is great for skin prone to excess oil, sensitivity and breakouts.
It gently cleanses without over-drying the skin. Every week to two weeks I use it with a sensitive Clarisonic brush head to exfoliate.
Then twice a week I'm using an old favourite - Una Brennan's Super Facialist Pore Purifying Clay Mask.
I spent a lot of time driving each day and am increasingly aware of air quality and the pollutants we take in each day.
Now, I had to order a bunch of Derma roller needles, mainly because mine have been hijacked by Andrew and he's a frequent user too.
Gently rolling micro needles over my skin after cleansing has improved my skin leaps and bounds.
A few gentle rolls reduce puffiness and improve skin elasticity...
Then after a few gentle rolls of the derma needles, I moisturise intensely, spending time ensuring that the moisturiser is fully absorbed.
Sukin is a favourite brand, they align with my values and their products are easily accessible, budget friendly and contain good ingredients.
Then on any areas which need a little extra coverage I locally apply the same range BB Blur Cream which works wonders to provide a smooth coverage.
A quick (5 minute) application of makeup and I'm ready to shoot off to the office!
