John Hardy Workshop, Ubud, Bali
Now, we all pretty unanamous in the decision to drop by the John Hardy Jewellery workshop just outside of Ubud. Annika, a wonderful friend and excellent jeweller made my engagement ring and was probably the most excited of us all to arrive at the beautiful compound...
We were greeted with drinks and wonderful team who showed us around the grounds.
The building itself was equally as wonderful as the jewellery itself...
We perused through the big volumes of sketchbooks showing drawings of the latest designs inspired by this little island.
Workshop visits are available upon request, and it's highly recommended that you take John Hardy up on this offer because visiting the buildings itself is a treat!
We wound our way through an oasis of trickling streams and large tropical gardens.
One of the perfect things about the jewellery is that some pieces contain beautiful engraved stories of the island on the inside of the bands, like little secrets just for you.
Some of the artwork from the inside of the bands is displayed on huge murals in beautiful little rooms around the island.
Stone masons of that time would have been highly skilled craftsmen with so much pride in their work, carving out near monolithic structures.
