{Wondering Weddings: Arctic Bride}

So this time last week Andy and I were heading back from the Arctic Circle up in the north of Sweden. It was so so so cold and wonderful and we spent the week with the most fantastic people.

After a beautiful wedding in the ice hotel, the Bride Cat above {and owner of the beautiful Inuti Jewellery in Windsor} dived in (at times literally) into a morning in the snow running around in her stunning wedding dress. The fantastic Annika Rutlin and I leapt around in the snow capturing the beautiful bride!

Amongst so many favourites that I'm churning through this morning, this one is so blissful! Check back this week for more!

xoxo

Wondering Weddings: Ice Hotel Wedding, Sweden

Just a quick little sneak peek at Pete and Cat's beautiful wedding at the Ice Hotel in Sweden earlier this week. After spending their wedding night in the Dragon Room we all headed up to the Abisko Sky Station yesterday. A snow storm prevented us from catching the northern lights but having travelled further north today to Bjorkliden for midnight ice golf, skiing, hot tub sky watching, Monkey Shoulder drinking and spending time with the beautiful husband and wife!

Travel Diary: Sweden

So on Sunday three am and five of us, wrapped up in our ski gear, started our trip into the Arctic Circle.  First Jimbob, Andrew and I landed in Stockholm and spent the day exploring the beautiful city.

We headed to the Old Town for lunch and an exploration. Then tried to find the Vassa Museum only to land on a different island packed with so much beauty, the clear skies made it both mega cold but at the same time beautiful to be outside.

After a cold day we headed to meet more wonderful people ready to board the night train up to Kiruna. 18 hours on the train was a great way to explore the country as we moved further and further north. The Von Trokes have two fantastic girls who handled the travelling utterly amazingly! We had cabins for the journey and packed with gingerbread biscuits, aspartame chewing gum, Patrone Tequila, Monkey Shoulder Whiskey, we somehow thought we'd have a long night of card games but in reality nine pm and we were dead after the 3am start.

Normally beaches and the tropics are, my thing, so the idea of layering with thermals was an interesting concept. I picked up some north face thermals which were tested by opening the train windows, the conclusion was that nothing will shield you from -30 degrees celsius, so I gave up and went back to my Ralph Lauren and Nichole Farhi Layers. I've packed as sensibly as I possibly can, but on the weekend the discussion regarding sequins over thermals did arise, which of course has lead to just one of my vintage sequin jumpers making an appearance. Andrew has grown a big nordic beard for the week as a means of maintaining face warmth, with his glistening blue eyes the arctic look seems to be working for him!

Getting to the Ice Hotel was fantastic, we caught up with the bride and groom to be and met their wonderful family and friends. Last night following a fantastic group dinner at the Old Homestead Restaurant we headed back with literally frozen eyelashes to the cabins for extreme Cheat/Bullshit over drinks. This afternoon is Cat and Petes wedding in the Ice Hotel Chapel, utterly excited and cannot wait! So before I get carried away with sharing loads and loads about our trip so far, the canon's need charging and I'm off to find some pretty boys for some test images inside before the ceremony!

{Photographic How To: Race for the Morning Sun}

An image from this morning, it's been a great week so far, nice and busy which is great. I've had some wonderful collaborations recently with fantastic locals. Planning trips away and things, yikes it's nearly March already!!!!

How are those new years resolutions coming along?! I promised this will be the year I beat heart disease, nervous about getting my cholesterol checked up soon!

So as promised see below! There's also a little hello video, I find listening to myself so weird and creepy!

{Polaroid Loving and Macaroon Bites}

Mmm so it's been such a good week, I'm going through my images and my old polaroids. What is it about polaroids that make them so ridiculously sentimental... An image captured is endless, it's forever.

{Insta Interior}

Like photographs, sometimes I get paintings in my head. I'm not really an artistic person, but I can just about handle two colours. There was a gorgeous morning in the Autumn where the tree canopy was beautifully golden and the ground glistened silvery with frost. It seems appropriate to recreate this as a dual tone creation.

{Thinking ahead to summer}

Okay, so it might be premature to be thinking ahead to summer already, especially seeing as in just two weeks time I will be in Sweden and then perhaps South Africa in the summer (which will mean their winter). But, with lingering winter here to stay for the next period of time, I think I have to maintain some sanity.

{Baby you were born ready}

Have you ever caught yourself putting things off? We're into the new year and it's a great time to check in and see how your 2013 resolutions and goals are progressing.

Is there a need to wait to live your life? Do you find yourself saying things like "when I've got enough experience in a dead end job, I'll apply for my ideal job" or "when I loose x weight I'm going to find that perfect guy." Right now, you are living your life and there is utterly no need to wait for that perfect time or when you're circumstances are right and when everything is perfect. I used to say to myself all the time, okay when I've done this, then I'll do that. Then everything started unravelling, oh my god everything unravelled and I got this kick up my ass to frigging well start living and engaging with real life.

If you're putting things off and waiting for that perfect moment, think about what it really is that is keeping you back and holding you from taking those chances. What is the worst that can happen? As humans we are terrified of rejection, oh my gosh, we are terrified. Putting ourselves out there though and taking those chances with people and circumstances and situations, could end badly, we could get rejected. But like my Mother used to tell me time and time again, if they only like you for your stuff, you're better off without them. And that is great, it's invaluable, because you filter down through all the crappy people in your life and end up with those who are truly fulfilling.

Stop worrying about things, oh my gosh, if you've slipped on your resolutions, forget about them, stop with the excuses and take risks! You were born ready!

And encase you need that extra boost, put this on and start kicking ass!

So, a few hours a day I work with pipes. While feng-shui-ing the flat, I noted that my metal area was lacking. A victorian cleanwater pipe sample seemed utterly appropriate for the space. A Corona beer bottle seemed sensible to hold a leaf.

{Getting miles on the legs}

So my favourite shoes include my trusted Sam Edelmans, Jeffrey Campbells and Steve Maddans. I never thought that I'd ever bring some scummy running shoes into the mix though.

As part of my mission to combat my cholesterol by changing the bits of my genetics which overproduce the stuff, I'm including more cardio in my daily activities.

I've never been totally enthusiastic by running, I'd much rather be swimming or increasing weights in circuits but I'm trying to change that by getting the hell outside and trying some new little challenges.

Motivation is always lacking, I'd much rather be planking or practicing yoga or doing housework than putting on my shoes and getting out there. I'm getting there though. Slowly, a few paces at a time.
